There will be a public hearing concerning the Park Dept.'s Proposed Rules
set to replace the 2002 Community Gardens Agreement/OAG Memorandum of Agreement
Tuesday, August 10 @ Chelsea Recreation Center
430 West 25th Street, 11:00am
NYCCGC is firmly against the Proposed Rule:
While we were heartened to be included in the drafting process of the Rule,
we are demanding inclusion of clearly stated protections for
"the gardens offered to Parks Department for preservation
as community gardens or open space"
as stated in the present Agreement.
All community gardeners and their supporters need to be at this hearing!
Bring your fellow gardeners, bring your City Council member, bring banners & signs!
What you can do right now
to help save and protect our community gardens:
|Call 10 friends/fellow gardeners and urge them to attend the Aug. 10 public hearing at 430 West 25th St & pre-hearing pep rally across the street @ 425 West 25th St.|
|Make your opinion heard! Register to testify at the August 10 hearing, click here to comment online, or submit written testimony.|
|Call 311 and tell them you would like to comment on the Proposed Park Rule as published in The City Record. Here are some sample statements (or of course state your own!):
"I am dissatisfied with the Proposed Park Rule, as it does not provide community gardens with the same protections as the 2002 OAG Agreement" or "Bloomberg administration: Parks Rules Must include clear protection for all Parks community gardens!"
|Contact the Commissioner via email. Fill out the form and let the Parks Commissioner know that the Proposed Rule is unsatisfactory.|
