GENERAL MEETING THURSDAY MARCH 20th in MANHATTAN

Thursday is the first day of Spring, our gardens are coming back to life.

Celebrate with the NYCCGC at our General Meeting this Thursday, March 20th, 6:30 – 8:30 pm  at the Neighborhood Preservation Center 232 East 11th Street, Manhattan.

As part of the celebration we are pleased to have as our guest Nancy Kohn, the new Director of GreenThumb for NYC Parks.

Nancy holds her BA in Political Science from Temple University and a Master’s degree in Health Education from Teachers College, Columbia University where she focused in nutrition education and sustainable food systems.

She served as the Director of Nutrition Education Programs for the Philadelphia School District with the deep understanding of schools being an integral part of community revitalization. She learned the benefits of empowering communities through nutrition and food justice while teaching youth in Harlem, New York and coordinating a Community Supported Agriculture group in Northern Manhattan.

This will be a unique opportunity to meet with Nancy, who is devoted to promoting a just and sustainable food system to improve quality of life, inspire positive health behaviors and empower our communities through knowledge, access, and choice.

So come celebrate the start of Spring with us. See you this Thursday!

Here comes the sun…It’s been a long cold winter…Here comes the sun!
