New York City Community Garden Coalition will convene its monthly meeting of gardeners from across the city on Thursday August 18, 6:30 - 8:30pm, at Prospect Heights Community Farm, located at 252-256 Saint Marks Avenue between Vanderbilt and Underhill Avenues (map).
Prospect Heights Community Farm got its start in the late 1990s, when community leaders and gardening enthusiasts united to transform three adjoining lots into a vibrant and dynamic public space that is now home to fruit trees, veggie plots, communal herb and cflower cutting beds, several secluded seating nooks - and almost 100 gardeners! To keep their garden healthy, they utilize rainwater harvesting, and are active composters. In the early 2000s, the property was deeded to the Trust for Public Land. New gardeners are always welcome!
