Community Board 10 Land Use Meeting on Mandela Community Garden

February 15, 2018 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
215 West 125th St
4th fl

The Nelson Mandela Community Garden, one of our city's newest community gardens, has the dual effect of nurturing the people it engages and fortifying our urban ecology. Volunteers recently planted this Central Harlem space reclaiming a blighted lot for community use. After de-paving the land by hand, gardeners restored the aquifer and created a pollinator garden that supports bio-diversity.

Despite the community's dedication to the lot, the mayor has designated it for housing development in a move that will nullify this community asset to benefit few.

If you are at all feeling frustrated by the current political climate. If you feel powerless about what is happening in Washington. If you think there is nothing you can do about climate change. This is an opportunity where your presence is magnified 100x. These sleepy meetings where back room deals are hashed out are by law required to be open to the public. They count on constituent apathy to work in their favor. Let's surprise them.

Please attend this meeting, be passionate, hold them accountable, question their questionable propositions!
